A natural diamond will hold its value better than a lab grown diamond because there is a finite supply. The law of supply and demand maintain that as demand increases, especially when there is limited supply, the value goes up. How natural diamonds are formed? –
Diamonds have an amazing natural journey; they were born millions of years ago deep in the soil. Diamonds have been one of nature’s most beautiful and one-of-a-kind presents since the beginning of time. Every diamond, like a snowflake; no two are the same, has a natural pattern that tells a unique story.
In short, diamond creation occurs when carbon stores deep beneath the earth between 90 to 125 miles below the surface and are exposed to extreme temperature and pressure. Some stones form quicker than others from a matter of days or months, while others take millions of years to form. The hue of coloured diamonds is created by other elements interacting during the diamond’s creation. Which also means, determining the exact age of a diamond is nearly impossible, however inclusions within the stone itself of specific minerals help geologists establish a rough date.
However, the majority of natural diamonds are millions, or even billions, of years old. Moreover, diamond growth is not usually a constant process. A change in temperature or pressure might pause or stop the formation of a rough diamond. The gemstone could then wait hundreds, if not
millions, of years for the atmosphere to be conducive to continuing growth.
What is the difference between natural and Lab grown?
Synthetic diamonds are those which have been grown in a highly controlled laboratory. The lab mimics the conditions under which diamonds naturally develop when they are formed in the Earth’s mantle. Although the origins are not as glamorous as the natural versions, they contain the same characteristics. The only differences between a natural diamond and a synthetic one is the history behind the process in which they are made.
