About us

About us

London DE is the UK’s leading supplier of certified diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires and other coloured gemstones. We ethically source and supply loose stones and create bespoke jewellery in our workshops in London’s Hatton Garden, and utilise local businesses to ensure we maintain a low carbon footprint and support the local community.

Philip Spencer founded London DE in 2013 with a desire to build an ethical and sustainable business revolving around his love for gemstones and jewellery. Since then, his team has expanded significantly both internationally and in terms of third party delivery partners. In 2020, we opened our Colombian subsidiary, London DE SAS, in the heart of the emerald district of Bogota to ensure we’re buying our stones and materials from the top of the supply chain and know exactly where our materials are sourced from. This provides transparency of our mine-to-market chain and cuts out any middlemen. In January 2022, we opened our DMCC (Dubai Multi-Commodities Centre) office in the United Arab Emirates, giving us direct access and insight into one of the fastest growing luxury retail markets in the world.

Building on our unique set of relationships within the industry, we can deliver gemstones and jewellery at a price well below that of traditional high street retailers. We only work with a small circle of trusted suppliers, with whom we have had a long and close relationship.  Each piece that we create is unique, hand-made and never replicated. We also offer a selected range of ready to wear jewellery, in addition to bespoke pieces.

We draw on the knowledge, skills and experience of our team to engage with our customers in a professional and consultative manner in order to deliver the highest standards of service and aftercare.

– Ethics and Environment –

We carefully monitor the entire length of our supply chain and only work with partners who have a detailed policy relating to their own supply chains.  As proud members of the Responsible Jewellery Council and the National Association of Jewellers, we are working hard to ensure that we operate in an ethical and considerate fashion.  We have paperless offices and we have taken steps to minimise our carbon footprint by working with local businesses and workshops in London to minimise journey distance.  Where possible, we produce our finished products as close to source as possible. We operate a workshop in Bogota, Colombia, employing local craftspeople on a fair and equitable basis.

– How We Operate –

London DE focuses on both the manufacturing and trading of the rarest and finest quality, top-of-the-line gemstones.

Those stones and jewellery pieces you see in shop windows have been passed down through tradesperson to trades person, resulting in an inflated sales price to consumers. Moreover, this process leaves you blind to the sourcing of your gemstones and whether they’ve been taken in a responsible and ethical manner.

Here at London DE, we provide an efficient service which cuts out the middle man and ensures a transparent mine-to-market model.  Through our wholly owned subsidiary in Colombia, London DE SAS, we are able to ensure the ethical credentials of our supply chain and provide you the lowest price for the highest quality gemstones. We achieve this in part through our unique set of relationships, high in the gem supply chain, and partly through our lean business model.

We supply gemstones and jewellery to order, operating online, on the phone, and face-to-face without the need for costly retail premises. As a consequence, we are able to provide you the best services for the most affordable price, without compromising quality.

We source our stones and materials from trusted individuals and create bespoke jewellery to export into the local market and all across the world. Once our coloured gemstones are purchased from mine distribution centres, they are then crafted into beautiful unique pieces in our Hatton Garden workshop.

The corporate mission of London DE is to deliver precious gemstones and bespoke jewellery to both business and retail markets in a smarter, more cost-effective way than our competitors.
